In the accountability ratings released today by the Mississippi Department of Education, Enterprise School District is the #1 rated school district in the state.

Dear Bulldog Family,

Congratulations! In the accountability ratings released today by the Mississippi Department of Education, Enterprise School District is the #1 rated school district in the state.

In total, 18 of Mississippi’s 148 school districts received an “A” rating. Enterprise School District finished with 761 out of a possible 1,000 points capturing the top spot. Petal School District finished second with 750 points, while Ocean Spring School District rounded out the top three with 723 points.

The accountability model used by MDE places an emphasis on growth —  how much progress students make in English language arts and mathematics from year to year, particularly the lowest-performing students.

Accountability grades for districts also include the four-year graduation rate, student performance on biology, U.S. history and ACT tests and student participation and performance in Advanced Placement and dual credit/dual enrollment courses. The system also factors in how well fifth- and eighth-grade students perform on the science test.

In addition to the district’s overall performance, each of the district’s schools also shined.

Enterprise Elementary, which accumulated 608 of 700 total points for elementary schools, finished rated as the #5 elementary school in the state.

Enterprise Middle School made the most significant gain on the accountability scale. Not only did EMS raise its overall rating from a “B” to an “A”, it surpassed all other middle schools in the state to finish tied with Lewisburg Middle School with 514 total points (out of 700) for the #1 ranking.

The final high school accountability ratings saw another Enterprise school sitting at the top. Enterprise High School, with 855 out of a possible 1000 points, finished as the #1 rated high school in the state of Mississippi. EHS outdistanced its closest competitors by 12 and 26 points respectively.

The Mississippi Department of Education began rating schools and districts around 2004, and until today, Enterprise has never had ALL schools rated in the highest performing category (STAR, Level 5, “A”, etc.) in the same year. It is truly remarkable to see all schools rated an “A”; it is beyond remarkable to see two of the three finish at #1!!

This great distinction is a result of the combined effort, not only from our students and faculty, but from all stakeholders in our district. It is the goal of Enterprise School District to provide its taxpayers with the greatest return on their investment. According to the accountability ratings released today, the district is doing just that!
